Let’s dig into this. America is fatter than ever before. According to The State of Obesity, a non profit website that tracks obesity in the United States, over 25 states in America have and obesity rate of over 30%! Almost 1 in 3 people in these states are obese. Let’s look at Minnesota and Wisconsin since that is where a majority of my clients, family, and friends are located:
Minnesota: 27% of the population is obese
Wisconsin: 30% of the population is obese
Let’s look at some of the health and mental effects of being obese:
- Heart disease and stroke.
- High blood pressure.
- Diabetes.
- Some cancers.
- Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
- Osteoarthritis.
- Gout.
- Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep) and asthma.
- Depression.
- Anxiety.
- Low Self Esteem.
- Low Sex drive.
- Infertility.
Raise your hand if you would like any of the above for you or someone you love. Hell, I know I don’t want any of those things. When push came to shove and I was about to be a Dad, I knew that I had to get my ass in gear. I could not let my wife down or my soon to be daughter. I do not want be on the sidelines of my daughters life because I was to selfish to not better myself. I want to be able to play with her, get up and down off the floor, go on bike rides, show her how to hunt, and the biggest one, I WANT TO BE THERE TO WALK HER DOWN THE AISLE! It boggles my mind to see young parents not care enough about their kids to get their health in order now to prevent dying young.
You might not have those same type of reasons to get started, but don’t tell me $50,000 isn’t enough of an incentive to get your ass off the couch.
